Dr. Samantha Rose’s care for animals goes back to when she was 6 years old. Her life long dream was to become a veterinarian. She graduated from North Park University in 2003 magna cum lade. She then attended University of Illinois College of Veterinary Medicine and graduated in 2008. Prior to veterinary school she worked closely with veterinarians who practiced acupuncture, chiropractic and various alternative therapies. This truly opened her eyes to have the ability to offer non-traditional treatments to help animals that were not responding to traditional options. During veterinary school she was the Vice President and then the President of the student chapter of the American Holistic Veterinary Medical Association exposing students to various complimentary therapies and organized yearly continuing education seminars for veterinarians in Illinois to attend.
In 2010 she trained in veterinary acupuncture and was certified through the International Veterinary Acupuncture Society. She then pursued training in veterinary chiropractic through Parker Chiropractic College and received her certification through the American Veterinary Chiropractic Association in 2012. In January 2016 she completed an advanced small animal acupuncture course through the Chi Institute. She is currently in the process of obtaining her certification in Chinese veterinary herbs through the Chi Institute and plans to be completed in 2024. She recently completed the Palliative and End-of-Life Care Program through the Chi Institute and received her certification. She has also developed a strong interest in veterinary rehabilitation throughout the years and has recently completed the veterinary rehabilitation course through the Chi Institute at UC-Davis School of Veterinary Medicine.
She believes in a multi-modal approach to treating animals, restoring wellness and allowing them the best quality of life possible. She started her career in the San Antonio area and practiced there for 7 years at two small animal veterinary hospitals. In 2014 she decided to start Serenity Veterinary Services in the San Antonio area. She was then relocated to the Pacific Northwest for 3 years with her family. There she worked at a veterinary rehabilitation center as well as restarted her mobile practice. She has currently been living in the Southern California area since 2018 and working at a veterinary clinic practicing integrative medicine. Her focus has become traditional Chinese veterinary medicine, pain management, geriatric animals, mobility issues, chronic disease and end of life care. She believes that most animals respond better in a more relaxed environment so she created a fear free spa like atmosphere at her clinic and offers home visits if needed. She truly believes in the strong bond formed between humans and our beloved pets. It’s so important to be able to offer them personalized veterinary care for their specific needs as they age.
She currently is a member of the American Veterinary Medical Association, College of Integrative Veterinary Therapies, International Association of Animal Hospice and Palliative Care, International Veterinary Acupuncture Society, American Veterinary Chiropractic Association, American Holistic Veterinary Medical Association, and Pet Loss Professional Alliance.
She looks forward to forming new relationships within her practice and is dedicated to her patients, always looking for ways to provide assistance. When not at work, she cherishes time with her wonderful family, which includes her husband, two daughters, three dogs, a bunny, two geese, a duck, and a quirky silkie chicken that believes it’s a dog!
