Here’s what our clients said about our services:
Ricochet, my 14 year old Min Pin was diagnosed with three crushed discs that fused themselves together. She was on steroids and pain meds and had regressed to the point where she walked unsteadily, frequently fell down, and couldn’t get up by herself. Because she stays in the house by herself while I’m at work, I worried that if she fell, she’d have to lay there all day until I got home. That’s not quality of life, so although excruciatingly painful for me, I had to consider the possibility of putting down my baby girl.
As a last resort, my Vet suggested we try acupuncture. I was shocked by the suggestion and definitely had my doubts, but was willing to try it as a last resort. The results were nothing short of a miracle! I actually saw improvement after the first session, but by the end of the month (eight sessions), Ricochet was walking and running. She didn’t fall down anymore and when she layed down, she easily got herself back up. She’s also off of the steroids.
Ricochet’s so happy and full of energy now, it reminds me of when she was a puppy. From the very first meeting with Dr Samantha Rose, her caring and compassionate demeanor was evident and reassuring. She is nontraditional, as are her methods of treatment for prolonging quality of life, especially for our geriatric pets. Thank you, Dr. Rose for restoring my dear Ricochet’s quality for life so that I can continue to enjoy her unconditional love and companionship a bit longer.

Dr. Rose has cared for two of our beloved senior dogs in recent years and we are so grateful for her loving and professional care. Our mostly Schnauzer 15-year-old dog Rose went from not being able to stand on her own to again roaming our house and yard and going for walks with us thanks to acupuncture treatments. To see her wag her tail again was such a testimonial to the results.
Last year, our nearly 16-year-old mostly Corgi, Hank the Cow Dog, began to suffer back problems and arthritis attributable to injuries as a young dog before he was rescued. Again, with dietary supplements, acupuncture, massages and chiropractic adjustments, his life was greatly enhanced. He, too, spent added months going on walks in his neighborhood, chasing his ball and digging holes in his favorite outdoor sleeping places. It was particularly helpful that Dr. Rose provided in-home treatment for Hank, as riding in cars always bothered him.
One of my favorite memories will be the day Dr. Rose walked in the front gate while I had walked back inside the house to answer the phone. As I looked out the window, Hank got up and went over to welcome her and the two of them cuddled together on the grass. Their mutual love and respect was obvious. Dr. Rose’s holistic approach to treating senior dogs provides a quality of life that is meaningful to both our pets and the people who love them.

I am forever thankful to Dr. Samantha Rose for suggesting acupuncture treatment for my 18-yr old siamese cat, Kirby. He suffered from kidney disease and Dr. Rose believed he would benefit from such treatment. I was willing to give it a shot since he was already on a special diet and receiving subcutaneous fluids on a daily basis. I noticed a visible difference in Kirby from the very first acupuncture treatment! It had such a calming effect on him and at home, he was more active and happy! There’s no doubt that Dr. Rose and her weekly acupuncture treatments dramatically improved Kirby’s quality of life. I wouldn’t hesitate recommending Dr. Rose’s acupuncture treatments to anyone with a geriatric pet. She has a loving touch and an incredible connection with her patients.

My precious 5 1/2 year old person-in-a-little-black-dog-suit, Manny, suddenly went from an exuberant toy-chasing tornado to barely being able to maneuver the step up from the living room to the kitchen. He just wanted to lay on the floor; not even jump up into my lap. Obviously something was terribly wrong.
A visit to my veterinarian confirmed my worse fears; he once again had a back issue. (All that exuberant chasing and jumping can take a toll.) X-Rays showed compressed discs in his upper back; according to the Vet, not really bad enough for surgery, so just pain medicine and muscle relaxants and bring him back in a couple of weeks for a follow-up. I did start giving him the meds to try to make him more comfortable, but also took him and his X-rays with me when I went to see my chiropractor.
Thank God my chiropractor had made the acquaintance of Dr. Samantha Rose! He gave me her card and I immediately set up an appointment for her to come evaluate Manny. She suggested 4 – 8 sessions of a combination of acupuncture and chiropractic adjustments. After the first session there was minimal, though noticeable improvement. Getting up the step didn’t seem as difficult for him and he definitely seemed to have more energy. After the second session he shook himself good and then RAN and got a toy for me to throw for him. Each subsequent session showed more and more dramatic improvement.
After 5 sessions he is totally back to his normal running, jumping and toy-chasing. I hate to think what kind of life my little man would have had without this treatment. Thank you Dr. Rose

Cleo, our 7 lb. Chihuahua, has been our baby since we got her on Christmas Day in 2005. She was a vibrant and active dog until she experienced a neck injury in 2010; she was diagnosed with Intervertebral Disc Disease (IVDD). She spent 6 weeks in a crate, on all kinds of medications, and eventually got better; until a second incident with her lower back last year, and a third, also with the lower back, in Feb 2015. We tried to help her using the same methods, crate rest and medication, but she wasn’t getting better. Her pain was terrible, our regular vet was only able to offer stronger medications or a referral to a veterinary neurosurgeon. Surgery was not a viable option for us, so we resorted to stronger medications, giving her injections twice a day, torture for us and her. A friend suggested that I take Cleo to see Dr. Samantha Rose, a veterinarian in San Antonio, who provides veterinary acupuncture, chiropractic, hospice, and in-home euthanasia services. She said that Dr. Rose had really helped her dog, who suffered from a similar condition. I was skeptical, but desperate. Even with the stronger drugs, Cleo was in pain and unable to urinate, I was afraid that she was on the road to permanent nerve damage. I called Dr. Rose, who agreed to see her the next day.
On our first visit, Dr. Rose took her time, relaxing Cleo with essential oils, before proceeding with acupuncture and electrical stimulation. Cleo was a little resistant, but endured the treatment well. When Dr. Rose connected the electrical stimulation to one of the needles in her leg, she urinated all over the table. What a relief, she had not urinated in over 3 DAYS! Dr. Rose followed up with a chiropractic adjustment, which Cleo seemed to enjoy. After the treatment, Dr. Rose tested the nerve response in Cleo’s damage leg by turning the knuckles downward, as out vet had done, with no response. Cleo repositioned her leg and did not cry out in pain! Dr. Rose put her on the floor to see how she would walk. Prior to treatment, she was walking hunched up with her left leg suspended, she cried every time she moved. After treatment, she shook her entire body twice, wagged her tail, and walked on all fours. It was like a miracle!
Since then, Cleo has had two follow ups with Dr. Rose and her improvement has been remarkable. I couldn’t be more surprised or more pleased. Dr. Rose is a compassionate veterinarian who goes above and beyond. She offers alternatives to expensive and painful surgeries, or euthanasia for dogs with chronic pain and/or other serious conditions. I wish that I had known about the availability of these services 5 years ago. I feel sure that with regular chiropractic and acupuncture treatments, much of the pain and disability Cleo has experienced in the last few years could have been avoided.
Thank you Dr. Rose!

Dr. Samantha Rose lovingly cared for Murphy, our English Springer Spaniel for several years. Sadly, Murphy developed an inoperable tumor in his spine at the young age of six. With Dr. Rose’s guidance, we consulted with experts at a local animal hospital. After deciding that we would maximize his quality of life rather than pursue invasive and risky procedures and treatments, we returned to Dr. Rose for continued care.
From the onset of Murphy’s illness, she offered assistance at all hours. With her compassionate care, we were able to spend another 14 months of quality time with Murphy. While he could no longer chase squirrels as vigorously as he wanted, he spent many hours lounging in the back yard by the pool or in our laps. Near the end, Dr. Rose discussed with us the option for home euthanasia. Initially we were skeptical and did not want to impose on her, but Dr. Rose insisted that we consider it. As the day approached, we remembered that our previous Springer Spaniel had died on a cold, steel exam room table at a different veterinarian’s office in a very impersonal setting.
On the morning of his death when Murphy could no longer walk and his eyes told us that he could no longer fight, we reluctantly called Dr. Rose. She rearranged her morning schedule and arrived at our house shortly thereafter with her veterinary technician. While Murphy lay down on his favorite bed in his favorite room, Dr. Rose allowed us to surround him with love and smother him with kisses as she put him to sleep. While we were devastated with his loss, we were unbelievably heartened by the manner in which he died. We will forever be indebted to Dr. Rose for allowing us to have this personal experience at home rather than an animal hospital.

Dr. Rose was such a light during one of life’s most difficult decisions — letting your best friend go home. When it was finally time to say goodbye, Dr. Rose displayed such warmth and compassion to Aengus and my family. I am incredibly grateful for her soothing presence during this transition. Finally, she made a cast of Aengus’ paw along with a thoughtful card. I can’t thank her enough. Serenity Veterinary Services provides exactly that – Serenity. I recommend Dr. Rose 100%.

There are moments in life when we actually take the time feel how blessed we are. Those moments for me are with my dogs, I have a great love for them and share my life with them and Thanks to Dr. Rose, I will continue to have more moments with my girl Ava.
Last week, Ava lost the use of her hind right leg, she could not stand on her left leg which was already compromised by a TPLO surgery several years ago…did I mention Ava is a 10 year old, 90 pound pit bull? Not a light load to carry around….but my best friend and I hauled her outside in the hope her leg was just asleep or something as there was no injury, she hadn’t even been moving when it happened…she was in her crate and when she went to get out….dead leg….and I do mean dead leg…nothing, nada…knuckling under and dragging.
I called Dr. Rose and she said, of course… bring her over….It was dinner time at the Rose residence but she didn’t care…I arrived, wondering if this was the beginning of the end of one of the best relationships of my life….I lifted Ava out of the car and Dr Rose went to work on her right there in her front yard…we then got her to the house and she adjusted her and gave her an acupuncture treatment….she made me no promises, but I think maybe we were both praying under our breath…she said she could have pinched a nerve or slipped a disc..”let’s see how the next 24 hours plays out”….she helped me load Ava into my vehicle and we went on our way.
I had an hours drive home and Ava slept peacefully, I was thankful. I did not know what the next 24 hours would hold but she was sleeping peacefully in her bed and I took that as a good sign…when I got home she stood up…wobbly, but she stood….I lifted her down and she could stand! Then she walked to my barn…I could not believe it….if you had seen this dog, you wouldn’t believe it either. I took a video on my phone…and sent it to Dr Rose…she cautioned me to keep her quiet for the next couple days and instructed me to give her rimadyl. Ava was completely back to normal within 24 hours….I have many years of handling dogs and horses under my belt and I have never seen a turn around like this one. I felt compelled to share this story because of it.
Ava has been receiving regular adjustments and acupuncture from Dr. Rose for about 6 months and the change in her is definite. Sometimes we try things in life, never really knowing if the are helping or making any kind of difference. Well, I know it makes a difference in the well being of my dog because I stopped treating Ava and saw the old, hunched up, pain faced pit bull return. That is how I discovered it made not just a difference but a very big difference. When I see her gallop across the driveway…body straight instead of that lucy goosey detached hind end look she used to have…or to see her sleeping on her back…spread eagle with not a care in the world. She hadn’t slept like that since she was three years old. I know our canine friends don’t live nearly long enough and one day I will be faced with the loss of my best friend, but it is not this day. This day we get to enjoy our ‘moments’ together…she asleep at my feet as I write…I have Dr Rose to thank for these moments….and I am deeply and profoundly grateful.
Needless though it may be for me to say, I highly recommend both Dr. Rose and the practice of holistic medicine….I am all about what works, if what you are currently doing, isn’t working, keep trying, keep digging, keep learning….I have found, with my own pack and herd that western and eastern medical practices can compliment each other nicely.
